Wish List
These are items Methow Midwifery & Women’s Health would like for the business. Any help in attaining them would be forever appreciated:
- Hand held newborn bilirubin meter (so babies don't have to get poked for a bilirubin level if they are jaundiced), such as the BiliChek® Noninvasive Bilirubin System. (1-800-345- 6443 ext 74929 Greg, quoted $2500, plus $7 for a new tip each time one is used)
- Hand-made, wall-mounted, curved, wooden, folding infant changing table for the bathroom of our clinic. (Paul Gitchos quoted $350 to custom make this)
- Digital Infant Scale, portable, with AC adapter, accurate to <1 oz, and >1 year warranty ….such as Medela’s Baby Weigh or Baby Checker scales, or the Tanita BD 590.
($1299 new, $420, and $258 respectively). This is helpful when we are trying to weigh infants that are not feeding well, and weigh them before and after breastfeeding to determine how much milk they transferred.- Electronic Fetal Monitoring machine for over-due women needing non-stress tests. This would save women a trip to the hospital and is much needed. Portable, with printer, such as the Nicolet Versalab Antepartum Monitor (from Cascade Healthcare for $3200), or Huntleigh Healthcare's Baby Dopplex 3000 (for $3700 from the same place).
- An electric, hospital grade, double, breast pump for renting or loaning out to new mothers as needed. The Medela Lactina double pump ($879 new, used ok too), or the Medela Symphony ($1499 new-has two phase technology that more closely mimics a baby’s sucking, is quieter, and lighter weight). Both of these pumps can be used by many mothers and not get cross contaminated. Women buy their own kit to go with the pump for $45 which we hope to have a stock of as well in the future. Money can be donated to MMWH for this item and we have a Medela wholesale connection we can use to purchase them.
- A stainless steel surgical instrument called a cord bander that puts sterile rubber bands over the baby’s cut umbilical cord, rather than a clamp or tie. Then it doesn’t need to be removed, just falls off with the cord, and is not bulky and catching on the diaper ($95 at Cascade Healthcare).
- New or mildly used PC laptop computer or flat screen PC desktop computer for our office staff to replace the really slow and old computers we are both using.
- Flatscreen TV (color, big enough for students in a classroom circle to watch)
- DVD with VHS player (all in one- for our childbirth classes)
